ACP recognizes National Physician Suicide Awareness Day on Sept. 17
ACP offers resources to address the root causes of physician well-being, including the Physician Well-being and Professional Fulfillment Initiative and the I.M. Emotional Support Hub.
ACP recognizes National Physician Suicide Awareness Day (NPSA Day) annually on Sept. 17th. As an official NPSA Day-supporting organization, we encourage physicians, colleagues, friends, and family to foster a culture that addresses burnout, supports fulfillment, and normalizes mental health treatment for physicians.
ACP offers resources to address the root causes of physician well-being, including the Physician Well-being and Professional Fulfillment Initiative, an Advocacy Toolkit in support of modernizing license and applications credentialing to not stigmatize mental health, and the I.M. Emotional Support Hub. The hub provides free peer support, counseling, emotional support videos, webinars, and leadership strategies to support clinicians' mental health. It also includes advocacy tools for residents and fellows.
Internal medicine physicians are encouraged to explore the official NPSA Day Toolkit, which offers communication resources, social media graphics, presentation templates, and talking points. Visit the NPSA Day website to learn more about preventing physician suicide, recognizing the signs, and creating safe spaces for discussion and support.
