Proposed 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule includes wins, concerns

While many of the schedule's provisions could help to strengthen primary care and support equity and innovation, congressional action is needed to prevent payment cuts and preserve access to telehealth, ACP says.

CMS released the proposed 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule last week. While many of the provisions could help to strengthen primary care and support equity and innovation, congressional action is needed to prevent payment cuts and preserve access to telehealth.

Promising provisions (that ACP has long advocated for) in the proposed rule include allowing the G2211 to be billed on the same day as an annual wellness visit, vaccine administration, or any Medicare Part B preventive service and permanently covering audio-only telehealth services. Additional information about what was included in the proposed 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and what Congress needs to do to preserve access are in ACP's press release online.
