August is National Immunization Awareness Month
ACP urges adults to get vaccinations to protect against preventable diseases.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and ACP is urging adults to get all their recommended immunizations to protect against preventable diseases.
Along with the annual flu vaccine, ACP advises adults to consult with their internal medicine physician about other vaccinations recommended for them based on age and risk condition, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV); COVID-19; tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap); pneumococcal, human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B, and herpes zoster.
The latest adult immunization schedule and recommendations approved by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) are published annually in Annals of Internal Medicine. Additionally, ACP's I Raise the Rates Adult Immunization Resource Hub features updated practical resources, like the High Value Care Immunization Referral Toolkit, Adult Vaccination RX Pads, and a new video on Increasing Adult Vaccinations: A Subspecialist's Perspective.
