ACP, Annals of Internal Medicine host forum on firearm-related injury

ACP and Annals of Internal Medicine presented “Firearm Injury: An Escalating Health Crisis” on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The virtual forum featured expert panelists discussing the clinical implications of the ongoing epidemic of firearm-related violence. Sue Bornstein, MD, MACP, executive director of the Texas Medical Home Initiative and Chair of ACP's Board of Regents, moderated the forum.
The panelists included:
- Marian (Emmy) Betz, MD, MPH, professor of emergency medicine at University of Colorado School of Medicine;
- Scott P. Charles, MAPP, trauma outreach coordinator at Temple University Hospital; and
- Thea L. James, MD, MPH, MBA, vice president of mission, associate chief medical officer, associate professor of emergency medicine, director of the Violence Intervention Advocacy Program, and co-executive director of the Health Equity Accelerator at Boston Medical Center.
