New ACP case study deals with patient prejudice
“Patient Prejudice? The Patient Said What?... and What Comes Next” is intended to help internal medicine physicians respond when patients display inappropriate behavior.
A new ethics case study from ACP, “Patient Prejudice? The Patient Said What?... and What Comes Next,” is now available for CME credit and MOC points.
The case study describes a patient who insults an intern during a physical exam. The goal of the case study and accompanying commentary is to help internal medicine physicians learn how to respond when patients display inappropriate behavior.
This ethics case study was developed by ACP's Ethics, Professionalism, and Human Rights Committee and the Center for Ethics and Professionalism. To learn more about ethics and professionalism activities at ACP, visit the Medical Ethics and Professionalism webpage.
