ACP marks National Immunization Awareness Month with resources to encourage adult immunization
New adult immunization resources from ACP include a brief video series with insights on communicating about vaccines, a prerecorded webinar about adult vaccine recommendations, and information for patients.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and ACP is urging adults to get recommended immunizations for protection against preventable diseases, especially in light of the continuing threat of COVID-19 and its variants. ACP's Adult Immunization Resource Hub, developed as part of the I Raise the Rates initiative, includes resources for internists, subspecialists, and their clinical teams to help them increase adult immunizations within their practice.
New resources include:
- ACP's National Immunization Awareness Month brief video series, which features insights from Kimberly Manning, MD, FACP, on having conversations with patients who are considering vaccination as well as experiences from ACP Member Celeste Thomas, MD, on team-based approaches to increasing vaccinations for patients with chronic conditions and communicating the importance of influenza vaccination.
- COVID-19 Recovery: Increasing Adult Vaccinations Webinar, a prerecorded webinar on current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations and strategies for increasing COVID-19 vaccination rates among adult patients.
- Patient resources, including an infographic on where to get routine immunizations, a poster on the importance of vaccines for older adults, and an email template for practices to use to encourage patients to get up to date on their routine immunizations.
Along with the new resources, the Adult Immunization Resource Hub continues to offer ACP recommendations, ACIP guidelines, webinars, and official CDC resources supporting National Immunization Awareness Month.
