ACP congratulates 2019 Hackathon winners
ACP held its first-ever Hackathon competition at Internal Medicine Meeting 2019 in Philadelphia in April.
Congratulations to ACP Hackathon winners “Huddle 24/7” for their conceptual design of an online team dashboard aiming to improve patient care handoffs and discharge communications, including a simplified dashboard for patient families.
ACP held its first-ever Hackathon competition at Internal Medicine Meeting 2019 in Philadelphia in April. Hackathons provide a unique platform to solve problems with intense teamwork and collaboration in a limited amount of time. ACP collaborated with MIT's Hacking Medicine program to bring together health care professionals, engineers, designers, developers, and technologists to develop interdisciplinary hacks (solutions) to improve clinical workflows.
Some Hackathon events last for days and can involve a heavy amount of coding skills. This uniquely designed four-hour event was focused on interprofessional collaboration and learning, with no technical skills necessary to participate. Another Hackathon is planned for Internal Medicine Meeting 2020 in Los Angeles.
