ACP recognizes National Immunization Awareness Month
ACP's immunization resources include practice management tools such as webinars and videos that cover the latest vaccine recommendations, coaching calls to assist physicians in implementing standing orders, and a residency training program to help program directors identify quality improvement projects.
ACP recognizes August as National Immunization Awareness Month and recommends that physicians use the opportunity to discuss the annual flu vaccine and other vaccinations with their adult patients.
ACP's immunization resources include practice management tools such as:
- Webinars and videos that cover the latest vaccine recommendations for adults and how the entire health care team can contribute to organizing immunization services;
- ACP Quality Connect Coaching Calls to assist physicians in implementing standing orders, providing patient recommendations, and purchasing and coding for vaccines in the office;
- ACP Adult Immunization & Quality Improvement for Residents, a training program to help program directors identify quality improvement projects and promote them at ACP's annual Internal Medicine Meeting; and
- ACP Practice Advisor Adult Immunization Module, which focuses on steps that staff in primary care offices can take to improve the rates of immunization.
ACP is a member of the Campaign for Adult Immunization, an initiative of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases that aims to ensure all adults are fully aware of and have access to appropriate immunizations.
The College also endorses the current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Recommended Immunization Schedule for Adults Aged 19 Years or Older, available from Annals of Internal Medicine.
