The Costs of Care organization and the ABIM Foundation have announced the winners of the annual Teaching Value and Choosing Wisely Challenge for the most promising innovations and bright ideas for teaching high-value care and stewardship to medical trainees.
The Teaching Value and Choosing Wisely Challenge was open to medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty, and received more than 80 entries. Six winners were named in 2 categories: “Innovations” for projects that are either completed or underway and “Bright Ideas” for proposed interventions that could be successfully implemented on a larger scale. Four of the winners will present at ACP's 2015 Internal Medicine Meeting in Boston this spring.
ABIM Foundation is also launching a learning network for students, residents, and faculty interested in advancing stewardship competencies in medical education and training. ACP's Director of Clinical Programs Development, Cynthia (Daisy) Smith, MD, FACP, will be presenting at a Google Hangout in April for the new Teaching Value in Health Care Learning Network.
