Eligible professionals need to submit their Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) quality measures data for calendar year 2014 by the end of February 2015 to avoid facing penalties in 2016.
Group practices of 10 or more eligible professionals will be subject to a −2.0% adjustment under the CME value-based payment (VBP) modifier in 2016 if they do not satisfactorily report PQRS measures for 2014.
The VBP modifier is being phased in based on practice size, with practices of 100 or more eligible professionals subject to it in 2015, based on 2013 data. All physicians who participate in fee-for-service Medicare will be affected by the VBP modifier starting in 2017.
