Last chance to avoid eRx penalty

Today is the last day to apply for a hardship exemption for the Medicare e-Prescribing program.

Under the 2011 Medicare Electronic Prescribing Incentive Program, clinicians who do not successfully use an eRx system during 2011 will be subject to a payment penalty on their 2012 Medicare payments. However, under a change to the rule published earlier this fall, clinicians who are not able to use an eRx system may be eligible for an exemption.
