Candidates announced for BOG Chair-elect Designee
Two candidates are seeking election as Chair-elect Designee of the Board of Governors, with voting and results announced in late October.
Rebecca A. Andrews, MD, MS, FACP, and Charles J. Hamori, MD, FACP, are seeking election as Chair-elect Designee of the Board of Governors. Governors will cast ballots in October and the results will be announced later that month. The candidate elected will begin the term as Chair-elect at the conclusion of Internal Medicine Meeting 2020 and will take office as Chair in April 2021.
Dr. Andrews is the Governor for ACP's Connecticut Chapter. She has been a Fellow of the College since 2010. Dr. Andrews has been active at the local level as a member of the Annual Program Planning Committee, as Chair of the Council of Resident/Fellow Members, and as participant at Leadership Day. She also created a Diversity Committee, Social Media Committee, and Resolutions Committee for the Connecticut Chapter. Under her leadership, the Chapter received the Chapter Excellence Award in 2017 and 2018.
On the national level, Dr. Andrews is currently serving on the Governance Committee and the Medical Practice and Quality Committee. Recently, she served as Class Representative on the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors in 2018-2019, was Vice-chair of the Education and Publication Committee, and was a member of the Awards Committee. She also served as Chair of the Council of Early Career Physicians.
Dr. Andrews received her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington. She is board certified in internal medicine. Currently, Dr. Andrews is the director of ambulatory education, associate professor of medicine, and associate program director of internal medicine residency at UConn Health. Dr. Andrews serves as a mentor to medical students and postgraduate medical trainees. She has also published various journal articles and abstracts.
Dr. Hamori is the Governor for ACP's California Southern III Chapter. He has been a Fellow of the College since 2007. Dr. Hamori has been active at the local level as a member of the Governor's Council. He is also a California delegate for Leadership Day and is a Special Society Delegate to the California Medical Association House of Delegates. Under his leadership, the California Southern III Chapter received the Chapter Excellence Award in 2017 and 2018.
On a national level, Dr. Hamori is currently serving on the Coding and Payment Policy Subcommittee. He served as Class Representative on the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors in 2017-2018.
Dr. Hamori received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his residency at the UC San Diego Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine. Currently, Dr. Hamori is a partner at Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Additionally, he has published numerous journal articles and abstracts. Dr. Hamori is a certified California nurse practitioner/physician assistant mentor and is an advisor to medical students and residents.
