David Babbott, MD, MACP

David Babbott, MD, MACP, died Aug. 23, at age 87.

From 1991 until 1995, Dr. Babbott served as Governor for the Vermont Chapter and in 1996 was named Laureate of the chapter. Prior to earning Mastership in the College in 1998, he was awarded Fellowship in 1964.

A member of the ACP Board of Governors from 1992 to 1995, Dr. Babbott was also a member of the Primary Care Organ Consortium from 1993 to 1998 and the Education and Career Committee from 1992 to 1996.

Dr. Babbott received his medical degree in 1955 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine before completing his graduate medical education at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut and New England Medical Center in Boston.

After 3 years of practicing internal medicine at Hartford, he become assistant director of medical education at the hospital, marking the start of his long career in medical education. In 1967, Dr. Babbott was appointed assistant dean and assistant professor of medicine at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He then served as director of medical education for 18 years.

Andrew Conti, MD, FACP

Andrew Conti, MD, FACP, the newly selected Governor-elect for ACP's New Jersey Southern Region, died Aug. 20 at the age of 67.

Dr. Conti was elected to his ACP post in May at Internal Medicine Meeting 2015. He was slated to begin his 4-year term as Governor in spring 2016.

Dr. Conti became a fellow of the College in 1992. Most recently, after years of private practice in Staten Island, N.Y., he worked as a physician at Oakhurst Medical Group in Oakhurst, N.J.

Dr. Conti earned his medical degree from the University of Rome and his master's degree of medical management from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He completed his internship and residency at St. Vincent's Medical Center (now Richmond University Medical Center) on Staten Island. Dr. Conti's clinical interests included geriatrics and electronic health records.
