ACP notes the passing of Robert H. Moser, MD, MACP, a former executive vice president of the College.

Robert H. Moser, MD, MACP, former executive vice president of the College, died on Aug. 6 at the age of 90.
Dr. Moser received his medical degree from Georgetown University in 1948. He interrupted his residency in 1950 to serve as a battalion surgeon in the Korean War, during which he was awarded seven battle stars and other commendations. Dr. Moser then finished his residency at Georgetown University Hospital followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Brooke Army Medical center and a fellowship in clinical hematology at the University of Utah, Salt Lake County Hospital.
In 1959, Dr. Moser was selected as one of the original medical flight controllers for the NASA Mercury program. During his time in the Army, he was also known for his expertise in teaching and residency program leadership. He retired from the military in 1969 after serving as chairman of the department of medicine at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
After retirement, he served as chief of staff at the Maui Memorial Hospital in Hawaii, chief medical consultant at Canyon Consulting Corporation, vice president for medical affairs at The NutraSweet Company, and editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Moser was also a prolific author, publishing over 160 scientific articles and four books.
From 1977 to 1986, Dr. Moser served as the executive vice president for ACP, during which time he created the division of public policy to carry the message of internal medicine to the public. He became a Master of the College in 1985, and in 1988, he received the Alfred Stengel Memorial award for service to ACP.
