Andre L. Laz, FACP
Andre L. Laz, MD, FACP, a dedicated clinician and hospital leader, died on December 14, 2010 at the age of 74.
Dr. Laz graduated from Fordham University and received his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School. He completed his residency at the Jersey City Medical Center and a fellowship at Georgetown University. He served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during the 1960s and practiced internal medicine in Oxen Hill, MD from 1969 to 1979.
In 1980, Dr. Laz began his practice at Naples Community Hospital, where he served in several medical staff leadership positions and on the credentials committee. He served as the president of the hospital's medical staff from 1990 to 1992. In 2004, he was appointed a member of the emeritus staff in recognition of his many years of service to the hospital. Following his retirement in 2004, he continued his passion for medicine by volunteering at the Neighborhood Health Clinic and participating in a mission to Jamaica.
Dr. Laz became a Fellow of the College in 1998 and served as ACP Governor of Florida from 1998 to 1999. He received his chapter's Laureate Award in 1999.

Jose M. Torres-Gomez, FACP
Jose M. Torres-Gomez, FACP, died on May 2 at the age of 93. Dr. Torres-Gomez became a Fellow of the College in 1958 and served as ACP Governor of Puerto Rico from 1976 to 1980.
